درباره کتاب ASSOCIATION

Human enjoys companionship and friendship with others; if this friendship is with righteous, decent, and mindful people, he will benefit good effects of this friendship, reach the spiritual place of his companions and even sometimes above them. If, on the other hand, he associates with indecent ignorant people, he will be harmed by bad effects of this friendship, becoming even more vicious than his friends. Because of the importance of association, Islam has specifically attended to it in the Holy Quran and the traditions, mentioning positive and negative effects of association, guiding the society into constructive association, and prohibiting it from destructive association. Islam has considered true association with the pious as the cause of salvation in this world and the Hereafter and association with the wrong-doer as the cause of misfortune in this world and the Hereafter. The present book is written about association in Islam as discussed in the Holy Quran and the Ahl al-Bayt’s traditions, by Allah’s Mercy

Introduction

The issues of ‘attraction’ and ‘effectiveness’ are facts that are present nearly in all places of the world and among all the particles and beings.
If there were no ‘attraction’ or ‘absorption’ in the world, no compound was formed and any of the present benefits of the world beings did not exist.
The sun shines on the earth, affecting the earth with its energy. The earth, on its part, is affected by the sun energy and other elements, growing trees, seeds, and flowers and developing mines and precious stones.
If the soil particles could not be affected by the sun, none of present various creatures existed.
The foods, drugs, clothing, the weather, coldness, and warmness have different effects on living creatures, helping them seek the path of their material development and continue life.
Among the world beings, human has the greatest amount of effectiveness and being affected to the extent that he can secure his eternal salvation or mishap this way.
One who transfers his scientific, educational, or guiding effects to others surely guarantees his salvation in this world and the Hereafter. Someone who receives such effects is adorned with scientific, educational, or guiding facts and certainly reaches salvation in this world and the Hereafter, too.
The issue of companionship is a fact with strong effect-giving and taking and one of the most effective issues in human life.

The present book is written about association in Islam as discussed in the Holy Quran and the Ahl al-Bayt’s traditions, by Allah’s Mercy. All aspects of association are attended to as much as possible. Sometimes other related or necessary issues are presented here, too.

Islam; the Eternal Religion

Islam, a body of right beliefs, proper conducts, ethical virtues, and firm rules and obligations, has been Divine religion from the outset of Creation and will continue to be so to the end of the world.
Religious rules and verdicts have been revealed to the prophets(s.a) in different ages in accord with the needs of the people in those ages and presented to them by the prophets(s.a).
The Divine religion reached perfection in Prophet Muhammad’s(s.a) age in Ghadīr Khum, where Amīr al-Mu’minīn, Imam Ali(a.s), was selected as caliph and leader after the Prophet(s.a). This way, the people will be needless of any other prophet, any religion except Islam, and any heavenly book but Quran until the Day of Judgment. In fact, Islam can guide the people and answer their need to material or spiritual rules forever: “This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.”
Imam Bāqir(a.s) stated, “(During the mission of Prophet Muhammad(s.a)) obligatory deeds were revealed as rules one after another. The leadership of the Islamic ummah was the last obligatory deed after whose revelation the Almighty Allah revealed the verse (involved).
Imam Sādiq(a.s) stated in another tradition, “Gabriel came to the Prophet(s.a) and said, ‘O Muhammad! Your Lord said hello to you and said, ‘…I will not reveal any obligatory rule anymore. I revealed prayer, fasting, zakāt, and hajj as obligatory deeds before. Wilāyat (leadership of the ummah) is revealed as the fifth obligatory rule. I will not accept the other four obligatory rules without adherence to the fifth one, the wilāyat of Ali Ibn Abī Tālib(a.s).’’”
It should be pointed out that all traditions from the Prophet(s.a) and the infallible Imams(a.s), cited in valid tradition books and narrated by trustworthy narrators, are exegesis of Quranic verses and divine obligatory deeds. These traditions have been issued according to people’s needs in certain times.
Islam, a collection of right beliefs, good ethics, and proper conduct, means unconditional surrendering to all the orders and wants of the Exalted Allah. When this surrendering to the orders of Allah is accomplished in human belief, ethics, and conduct, human is in fact a Muslim and his salvation in both worlds will be guaranteed.
All the prophets(s.a) and pious men have insistently asked Allah the valuable state of complete surrendering to all the Divine obligations.
After constructing Ka’bah, Prophet Abraham(a.s) and Prophet Isma’īl(a.s) raised their hands toward the heavens and prayed, “Our Lord! Make of us Muslims, bowing to Thy (Will) and of our progeny a people Muslim, bowing to Thy (will).”
Prophet Jacob(a.s) addressed his children before his demise, “Oh my sons! God hath chosen the Faith for you; then die not except in the State of Submission (to Allah).”
Prophet Joseph(a.s) asked the Lord of the worlds, “Take Thou my soul (at death) as one submitting to Thy will (as a Muslim), and unite me with the righteous.”

Islam; the Only Religion Accepted by Allah

The only religion that can develop human spiritual and material aspects equally is Islam. It can build human character and turn him into a source of blessings and perfection.
Islam is the state of surrendering to the Almighty Allah and enforcing His orders. It changes human life to a purified life in this world and a satisfied life in the Hereafter. No culture is as constructive as Islam; hence the Exalted Allah has set it the best religion for human, denying other religions.
The All-Merciful accepts Islam as the only religion for humans not only in this world but also in the Hereafter.
The Almighty Allah introduces His accepted religion in this world this way, “and I have chosen for you Islam as your religion.”
Allah states about the religion accepted in the Day of Judgment, “If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to God), never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost (all spiritual good).”

Islam; Enveloping all the World

Islam, the pure religion, lexically means surrendering and superficially is accomplishing the Divine orders. It includes not only human, but also all the world creatures from the outset of genesis. The Holy Quran states in this regard, “And to God doth obeisance all that is in the heavens and on earth, whether moving (living) creatures or the angels: for none are arrogant (before their Lord).”
We read in another Quranic verse, “And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) bow in adoration.”
In fact, Islam is the religion of all the creatures from the outset of Creation and the faith Allah desires for humans as a religion.
The firm ordered system ruling the world and its creatures is the result of Islam as the religion existing from the outset of Creation.
If human wants to be compatible with all the world beings, benefitting from the firm ordered system of the world, he should surrender to Islam as the revealed religion, as shown in the Holy Quran, the Prophet’s(s.a) tradition, and traditions of infallible Imams(a.s). This way human can satisfy all his material as well as spiritual needs by following Islamic rules and guarantee his salvation in this world and the Hereafter.

Islam’s Attention to Association

Islam includes worshipping, personal, family, social, economic, political, mental, and practical issues, hence it is called the complete religion in the Holy Quran. As a result, Islam attends to the issue of ‘association’, as one needed by everyone. It has made laws and guidelines for right kind of association, spiritual association with the prophets(s.a) and the Imams(a.s) in their absence, and association with one’s spouse, children, parents, family members, and other people. If people follow the rules and guidelines in this regard, they would benefit from sweet warm association with their family members and friends. This way, they can manage to achieve some of their and their friends’ spiritual and material goals.
